More than Growing Healthy Churches

The LGN trains pastors how to transform the very communities they are in. We show them how to connect to the deepest needs of people they live with and reveal Christ’s love for them.

Several years ago God gave Pastor Rick Warren what he calls the PEACE Plan. It expressed the very heart of God for lost and hurting people globally.

Often the most victimized people in our pastors’ communities are orphans or semi-orphans. Through our partnership with the organization Chosen & Dearly Loved our pastors are finding these at-risk orphans and providing the best place possible for their care. Several of them have taken these precious children into their own homes.

Right now we have over 129 in our care network and want to rapidly expand that due to the orphan crisis in these countries. In Cambodia there are 600,000 orphans and in India only one out of every 5,000 orphans gets adopted. We are bringing Christ’s peace and love to those who need it most.

Healthy Churches are Devoted to the Right Purposes

Live The
2 Great Commandments

Mt. 22:37-39 – Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Live The
Great Commission

Mt. 28:18, 19 – Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus made it perfectly clear how to build healthy churches!

In these two passages we find the five purposes for the church Jesus is building. That’s why the LGN is devoted to training all its 100 pastors in these five biblical purposes.

Worship: Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength
Ministry: Loving our neighbor as our self
Evangelism: Going to lost people and connecting the love of Christ to them in word and deed
Fellowship: Baptizing new believers into the family of God and helping them live out the one another commands
Discipleship: teaching believers the joy of obeying all of Christ’s commands and growing in their relationship with Him

We are seeing tremendous fruitfulness now in India and Cambodia as our 100 pastors are developing these five purposes in their growing congregations.

The Joy of Changed Lives

Jesus said you know a tree by its fruit and that there is great joy in bearing fruit though Him. We are experiencing great joy as we see our pastors bearing great fruit in even hard cultures. Here is what God used our LGN pastors to accomplish last year:

How We Do What We Do

Through our partnership with fruitful national pastors we recruit the most productive, teachable and hardworking pastors in a nation that we can find. We give them an introduction on how we grow healthy churches and assess their desire to implement this training.

If they prove to be of good character with a healthy marriage and want to implement this purpose driven model in their congregation, we invite them to join the LGN for 24 months. In those 24 months we train them on the five purposes of the church along with other critical topics such as leadership, preaching, management, counselling and biblical theology.

They come for training every approximately every 12 weeks and submit monthly reports on their implementation and results. We also train them to do monthly action plans and we visit their ministry two times a year.

Supporting Productive Pastors in Impoverished Nations

The LGN purposefully works in countries that desperately need healthy churches but lack trained pastors. Many of our pastors lead congregations in deeply impoverished countries where less than 2% of the people know Christ.

In Cambodia there are 6,000 villages without a church and only 1.4% are believers, yet it is wide open for the Gospel. In India only 0.14% of the 500 million people there claim to be Christians, with a staggering 2,084 unreached people groups. Truly the harvest is great in these nations, and we are raising up the pastors and churches to reap the harvest.

Many of these pastors face persecution and great hardship in their daily ministry. Their congregations simply can’t afford to support them, so many are bi-vocational but still face real financial challenges. The LGN raises the money needed to help support these pastors on a monthly basis based on their location, family size and size of their church ministry.

That support ranges from $25-$150 a month and we support them for six months at a time. Each month we review their effectiveness and then decide based on their performance whether to continue their support for another six months. Along with the support we give, we train our LGN pastors on how to develop a financial plan for their family and their church which increasingly depends less and less on foreign support. They are so deeply appreciative of all of our sponsors who make doing ministry possible for them and their family.
